At times, a word will stick in my head. The word comes in like a light snapping on in a dark room. My subconscious is giving me messages to help me understand the present moment.
In many ways I’m in a liminal space, and I’m walking alongside others who too are in great transition or just before the transition — relationships, jobs… the big stuff.
Or, we are holding two major and opposing sensations at the same time. At the same time that there is great turmoil in the political climate of the US, there’s also a great deal of people who are coming together in unity, hope, peace, goodness and love. Among the big egos, there’s been invitations for deep vulnerability. Where there is vulnerability, there is the opportunity to heal.
It’s another synchronicity that the Diva Challenge this week was an illustration of opposites existing together. It was a duotangle: bunzo and paradox.
Straight lines and curvy, wormy coils. I showed this tile to a friend who’s going through a rough time and she said that it reminded her of what her insides feel like, and yet it’s beautiful at the same time.
There’s beauty in the breakdown (as the song goes).
I taught a zentangle class on Nov 19 to a class of 8 women. I loved teaching in this space, since I was surrounded by my own mixed media art that is on display until Nov 30.
It was surreal — and it has been surreal — to have my artwork hanging on the walls for the public. Here I am teaching art among my own art. I laugh when I think, who is this woman I’ve become? I’m not just the 9-5 communications professional in my cubicle at the local insurance company. I am both.
Here is our first tile mosaic. They did an amazing job.

Love the worms of Bunzo and the movement they create.
