On this oddly cool day in July, I’m thinking back to ZenAgain and how I had the privilege to attend the first Zentangle-sponsored reunion of Certified Zentangle Teachers.
It was in a beautiful spot in Newport, RI. Surrounded by water, our hotel was on an island.
What I loved about teacher training is exactly what I loved about ZenAgain: not only did we draw all day and appreciate the simple beauty of the Zentangle method, we were greeted with warmth and welcome by Zentangle headquarters staff, and I got to meet so many CZTs I’d never met before.
I truly needed this get-away, more than I could’ve ever planned for. After many months of intense family and personal issues, I was in great need of letting my hair down! ZenAgain provided! In fact, the theme was Just wing it!
Ah! Permission to play!
The days were a great mix of fun, learning and experimenting. Mornings were started with yoga (optional). Delicious meals were provided by the hotel (gluten free options, too, that were very tasty!). In class times, we tried new things — tangling on ceramic tiles, tangling to Molly’s meditative style, creating tiles with gold gilting, and tangling on NEW 3Z tiles!
FOUR new tangles were introduced! And each time, a dance celebration ensued!
We were taught by not just ZTHQ, but by others including Laura Liu and Margaret Bremner.
Sakura America and General Pencil Company did presentations of best ways to use their products. And of course, with it all, we were gifted with lots of new pens and materials!
MOST important, there was FUN in the air! It was 4 days of relishing the excitement, the whimsy and the JOY of Zentangle. (And some incredibly gooooofy playing around!)
