I’m convinced. It was always be snowy, icy and cold. In fact, my home city was named the U.S.’s snowiest city for this season! (We’re #1! We’re #1!) And guess what? Today, we’re getting another 12″ or more, on top of the 6″ or so we got last night.
I’m tired of talking about the weather and having the weather be such a major influencer of my day-to-day, but I feel like we’re in the middle of an interesting time. My activities go back and forth between being a shoveling fiend (just shoveled my deck and roof off yesterday) and living in my pajamas on the couch — either online shopping for warm boots (because that’s all apparently I’ll ever be wearing, ever) or watching silly YouTube videos.
Kidding. I have a hard time with *not* being distracted — which is usually a cue to go back to practicing Zentangle. But when I’m in that distraction mode (manifesting as mindless binge-watching of “Ghost Adventures,” shopping for pre-owned Uggs on eBay, and playing “Don’t Starve” on my laptop), it’s reaaaaaaaalllyyyyy hard to pull myself out and go back to the simplicity and satisfaction of putting pen to paper — which is what Zentangle is all about.
A special birthday, warm weather and a “random act of Zentangle”
Briefly, I wanted to share the fun stuff we’ve been up to.
Last week was my husband’s very special 40th birthday!
To celebrate, we went to Charleston, South Carolina, for a long weekend. What a relief to get out of the cold snow for a little while!
We had a great time in South Carolina, where the weather was in the 60s! SWEET WARMTH!
I found tangles everywhere around us! These were just in our hotel alone!
Charleston is a beautiful city full of rich history. It was a great trip.
Valentangles and Diva Challenge #204
A perfect time to combo an I Am the Diva Challenge tile with a gift! I used this tile to create a card for my mom (which she loved). I used Herzlbee, created by my friend Beate Winkler, who is also the author of a new, wonderful book called “Das große Zentangle-buch: 101 Lieblingmuster” recently released in Germany. (The book is fantastic and features some of my Zentangle tiles!)
Well, I couldn’t stop there! I made a card for my husband, too. I love how this came out. Similar to the tile for my mom, I first tangled on a Zentangle official tile, then colored in with watercolor pencils, and embellished with gold glitter glue.
I’ve used tangles Strircles and Mooka here.
There we have it!
101 favorite tangles book
I mentioned Bea’s book. Even though I don’t read the German language, I feel like this could be a go-to book for me to look at and be inspired by tangles. Zentangle is a universal language!
I love the book because it not only has the step-outs for 101 tangles, it also features tiles using these tangles. I also love the index in the back of the book of all the tangles that are featured! I also take pride in it because I contributed to the book. I highly suggest ordering it! (And I don’t get any kick backs from the sales! I just love the book and its author.) You can order it from Amazon.de, or let me know if you’re interested in ordering and perhaps I can coordinate that.
