Howdy!
On the first Monday of the month, Laura’s “I am the diva” challenge always features a tangle that a Zentangle-enthusiast has created. “UMT” stands for “use my tangle.” It took me a while to actually understand this. I thought UMT was the name of a tangle pattern and it was “versus” another tangle — like two tangles were going to be duking it out in the boxing ring! (Ooo, I may have to illustrate this image!)
This month’s VERSION (not “versus”) is Charlie, by Erin Olson (Bright Owl).
I’m a fan of Peanuts, but the name Charlie always makes me think of my most awesome dog, who passed away at the ripe age of 16! This is my Charley:
Back to Zentangle…
This was a fun one. As usual, I’m not the stellar student when it comes to following rules, and I like to jump in and try the hardest things before getting the basics down.
But such is life.
I was so close to coloring in spaces that I didn’t intend on coloring in. It took focus to see what shapes to color black and what to leave white.
That little doodad growing up in the middle of the tile is another example of over-complicated things and creating one wacky little super-detailed shape … But just one, because I’d rather move on to another pattern.
My super-hero name would be: The Impatient Perfectionist.
Really, someday I am going to embrace my tendency to overindulge and over-complicate.
Speaking of which, here is the latest freestyle mandala I finished last night.
