I played around with lines this past week. First a basic grid.
Finally, darken in the spaces made by the diagonals.
It’s so simple and recognizable, I figured it had to already be an established tangle. Yet, I haven’t found that it is.
You can find this pattern at the bottom of a Vans tennis shoe and in the structure of surfboards and cardboard chairs. Neither a honeycomb pattern nor an isogrid. Mike Sheldrake has called this pattern the “quarter isogrid.”
I found all this out after I did the step-out for this pattern in order to call it, in Zentangle terminology, a tangle.
So, I present to you the new tangle, Daviso.
