This week, the Zentangle Diva challenged readers and tanglers to try something new this week — either a new tool or a new surface. I sat with my sketchbook and bag of colored pens to embark on something new.
I don’t usually tangle with color. I prefer the impact of the black and white. But I had some Sakura Souffle pens that I hadn’t used yet. I also thought about tangling on tissue paper.
Lucky for me, there were some sheets of tissue paper (with glitter!) right underneath my bed that I was sitting on! I loved how the Souffle ink soaked right into the tissue paper, actually making it stick to the sketchbook paper once the ink dried. No need for glue! Or, if the tissue paper was peeled off of the page just before the ink dried, a distressed look was accomplished.
Besides this tangling exploration, I’ve been doing a little bit of traditional tangling, plus filling up (though I notice how “conservative” I am with that term) my “Tangle a Day” calendar.
It’s been so freakin cold here. Yesterday, it was -2 F, but with the wind, it “felt like” -12 F! I tangled with my gloves on while waiting for the car to warm up. (A fun experiment, but probably would’ve been smarter — and warmer — to wait inside!)
