In the US, it’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. Today we remember the man who made incredible strides in the civil rights movement in the 60s. We need the same depth of courage, strength and belief in humanity today as Dr. King brought to the masses in his day.
I love this quote:
“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
You don’t need to look good or to achieve the measures of success that we think will make us great. To be great, according to Dr. King, is to serve one another. It is truly the reason for being on this planet: to love and be loved by one another. Service is our extension of love for humanity.
You might be asking what does MLK have to do with Moebius Syndrome, and, my friends, I wasn’t quite sure myself until I began to write.
This week’s Diva Challenge is in honor of Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day (Jan 24). Diva Laura’s son has Moebius Syndrome, a congenital nerve disorder that affects cranial nerves. There are a wide range of symptoms that can come with Moebius Syndrome.
I had never heard of it until I started following Laura’s blog.
Laura’s story is so moving. She brings people to tears with the telling of it. And the photos of her, her family and her sons — well, it is without a doubt easy to see their hearts full of grace and souls generated by love.
Here’s my tile dedicated to Artoo, Laura and the whole Harms family, and all who serve with full hearts and love-powered souls.
Lots of props to Sandra Straight at Life Imitates Doodles for the step-outs for drawing the Moebius strip.
Mandala Magic 2015 and upcoming classes
I’m very excited to start a year-long journey of mandala exploration and creation with about 200 people (online), under the guidance of Julie Gibbons. I feel like this work will contribute oodles to my practice and teaching of Zentangle. My heart is racing with excitement!
I will be scheduling Zentangle classes soon. The holidays plus a loss in my family and a super busy work schedule on top of some other creative/visionary projects I work on have consumed my time. I look forward to teaching soon, though!
