Hello my friends in Zentangle land! Today is September 1. I’ve got to repeat that to myself because I’m having a hard time accepting that the summer months are over!
Laura (aka, The Diva) has returned on the ever-popular Zentangle blog, I Am the Diva. She presented us with the challenge to use the new official Zentangle tangle called Zenith (instructions for drawing Zenith). It’s super easy, versatile and ripe for making variations!
I created a Zenith “wreath” with the tangle Sedgling in the center. This is on a Renaissance tile. I quite like it. I have it hanging up in my cubicle at work to remind me of the simplicity of Zentangle, the complexity of which it might appear and the potential of all things when I allow myself to be free of needless limitations.
(Yup, all that packed into a little tile.)
Next, I’ll be working on Diane & Carolein’s Zentangle challenge.
Retreating
A couple weekends ago, I spent all day Saturday and part of the day Sunday on a personal, partly self-guided retreat as part of the Mandala Magic 2015 online program I’m participating in. (More about that program here)
I drank tea, juiced, meditated, drew, connected online with other mandala creators around the world, walked the earth with my bare feet and much more. Unexpectedly, I gained a greater appreciation for the space I have. In the small second bedroom of our 2-bedroom house, I’ve set up a drawing table, book shelves, shelves for my craft supplies and crystals, an altar, my computer and printer, and a small chair. There’s also my clothes closet.
A lot of the time I feel SOOOOOO cramped in this space. But during the retreat, I started to appreciate the space I do have in this room and in my home. It’s taken me years to figure out the best set up of the space, but it’s been worth it. It’s not perfect, but when needed, it fits.
August is a time for flowers and flowering
Some shots of the late summer blooms … this is an arrangement my aunt made for my cousin’s bridal shower.
And — look! A succulent in bloom! These two plants were from my wedding day … now planted, and blooming! Just in time for our 2 year anniversary next Monday.
Enjoy your week!

Your photos are lovely, especially the succulants. The tile is lovely too, in a different way and your use of colour and shading is gorgeous.

I love your Zenith tile! The points remind me of peacock feathers, and the colors – especially that nice soft gray – look beautiful! I envy your studio space. I work in our main living area, and sometimes would love to have that “away” experience. Thank you for a wonderful and inspiring post!

Hi Katie,
Wow, I am envious of your space 🙂 It looks so cosy and welcoming. I always love a good armchair, in any room!
Your Zenith tile, what did you use for the grey?
Cheers,

Morning Katie. Finally getting around to visiting other Diva Challenge blogs. I love your tile. I thought of its beautiful simplicity even before reading your own comments on it. Wish I had had Zentangle back when I was working. I need to get some Renaissance tiles.
